Let us know if things are OK now, because if this worked, you taught me somethig new and anyone else who runs into the same problem. What does it mean? The onboard controllers will often confuse this lack of response as the drive has failed and it will mark the drive as bad.

Buy an 80Gb SSD and later on buy another hard drive for storage. Question: If I disable RAID from the BIOS, would this enable me to verify the content of both hard drives? Unfortunately nVidia motherboards using SATA/RAID have this problem too, but nVidia is being stubborn and won't admit to the problem.
