There is an option to format. Beware though, there are countries (such asÂ the United Kingdom) where even personal backup copies are considered illegal. I got this error: I/O Error! Once the disk is finalized the next time you write to it it will ask you if you want to erase the existing data.

I use WinOnCD and find that will erase the DVD, Nero and Roxio products will probably do the same thing.

can your expand your Optical Drives in Device Manager and post us a snapshot here??? That machine never had a problem with that type of disc until now. Ill be glad to provide more information or any specs that might help. Then, I fired up ImgBurnÂ and tried to create an image file from the disc so that, later on, I can burn it to another DVD for safekeeping.
